Not this sh*t again...

Sat Jul 30, 2011, 8:17 AM

Kinda don't fucking wanna draw anything here anymore when stupid little kids keep fucking copying everything.
Wouldn't mind it so much if they'd just mention where they got the inspiration and idea from. But no, they go on like they've done nothing wrong, not expecting any kind of back lash.
And when someone finally does open their mouth, shit hits the fan so bad a drama bomb explodes.

And it's not just me, I've seen people doing this to others too. It makes me sick...

I'm beginning to see why a lot of people hate deviantARt.

Ugh, I just wanna finish all these works I've promised and then... go off and make my own site. Yes.

Also, barfday is nearing. :I Shit.

It's full of deviants, that's why it's called DeviantArt. :P

I've never experienced (or seen) my works being copied, though this is a big reason as to why a lot of my works are fan based.
I mean, it would be pretty upsetting if one of my characters got traced and recoloured, but it would be minimal compared to stories being pirated and published under someone else.

Sorry you've been given so much grief in this subject. Some people are so immature on the internet. They feel as though the lack of physical confrontation gives them a free pass to do whatever they want.
Going to your own site might lower your chances of thievery, but they can just as easily right-click your picture and save it as a file. Unless you have a code that prevents that practice...and then some of the less stupid ones could just put paper on the screen and trace...ugh...I'm sounding mighty suspicious now aren't I? :lmao:

Ugh!!! Even though I haven't any experience of characters being copied or stolen from me (Yet) ...then again I hardly submit any of my characters anymore on here even on a good day but I am so damn tired of people of doing this crap! Even though bad things happen to stupid morons who do stupid things to look like cool artists people will get right on their asses!! Why even bother pulling stunts like this it isn't worth it! >T

Good luck with the website if your going to go through with it! *thumbs up*

It sucks that people copy your work but deviantArt can only react to what it's told. If I recall right, you are allowed to report tracing and other more "loose" forms of art theft if you are the original artist. Get mad at dA if they don't help you but don't blame the whole website for a couple individuals' failings.

In an ideal world, you'll end up making canon work, right? That means there are way more crappy recolors in your future. I'm not saying it doesn't suck. I'm just saying it's not worth throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

Have a good laugh about how awesome you are while the dA staff removes the stolen work. It's the best thing for everyone.

I'm not saying I hate deviantArt like that, I just hate what kind of PEOPLE it's bringing in more and more.

You try to be nice with them and solve the problem reasonably (like said above, just give credit to the sources where they got the inspiration and idea from), but I've had to deal with quite a few ones who are those "OMFG NO THIS IS TTLY MY OWN ART, I'VE NEVER SEEN YOURS, YOU'RE THE THIEF HERE, HOW DARE YOU COME BITCH AT ME LIKE THAT"-kinds.
So far I've had one, ONE person who was smart and kind enough to understand and do what was asked, but all the other times, boom, drama-bombs. Whoopie.

The report-systems and everything are good; pretty much all the things I've seen or reported myself have been taken down. So yeah, like said, I don't hate DA as a site; it's actually very nice the way you're able to share art and such, but some of the people here? WTF...

There are definitely weirdos on dA but it's not like we're on YouTube where 9 out of 10 commenters are trolling.

I completely understand getting tired of a site and wanting to start over fresh somewhere else. However, if you want your dA watchers to follow you to your new site, then moving doesn't do anything. The people stealing your work are Transformers fans who like your art. You can move sites but they aren't trapped on dA. They can click a link just as easily as the people you want to move over.

Realistically speaking, all moving off dA does is confuse watchers and make reporting stolen artwork harder since dA'd want proof that you owned the offsite artwork.

True, true. This IS the internet, you're never really free from morons wherever you go.

Which is why I'd probably only give links to those who would ASK.

Yup. And, like I said before, in an ideal world where you hit it big and get to make your stories professionally, you'll have every type of recolored, weirdly fetishized mary-sue known to the internet getting slashed with brutal misinterpretations of your characters. You're allowed to hate the stupidity in your fanbase (Jhonen Vasquez certainly does) but those morons' money is just as good as everyone else's when it's in your pocket.

That'd only work as long as no one decided to give their friend a link and google image search couldn't find your art.
